Marcus Jones returns to Taffs Well after STM Sports exit

Attacker Marcus Jones has returned to Taffs Well as the Wellmen continue their summer recruitment push.

The 27-year-old spent six years with the club and has since returned after a three-year exile.

Jones departed Rhiw’r Ddar for Barry Town United in June 2018 but spent just five months at Jenner Park before joining STM Sports.

During Jones’ time with the Mellons, he won the Welsh League Division Two title and featured in their 3-0 defeat to Connah’s Quay in the Nathaniel MG Cup final.

In the 2019/20 Cymru South campaign, Jones scored eight goals in 23 appearances for STM, helping them to a fourth placed finish.

His performances saw him named on the substitutes’ bench of the official Cymru South ‘Team of the Season’ which was voted for by the managers in the league.

He is also a Wales six-a-side International and was vice captain the at the 2019 World Cup in Crete.

Jones is not the only STM player to find a new home following their demise.

Defenders Chris Hajgato and David Biggs have moved to South Wales Alliance League outfit Cardiff Corinthians.

Tom Rutherford has joined Ardal Leagues Southern East outfit Trethomas Bluebirds.
