Bala Town sign powerful striker Raul Correia

Bala Town have announced the signing of Portuguese striker Raul Correia following his release from Southport.

The Angola born forward has a vast amount of experience playing non-League football in England.

Correia also had a spell in the English Football League, joining Blackpool for an undisclosed fee in 2017.

The 27-year-old had loan spells with Guiseley and York City during his time at Bloomfield Road.

He was released by Blackpool and picked up by newly promoted Barrow. Before signing for his most recent club Southport.

At the time of his arrival at Southport, manager Liam Watson described the player as “powerful, direct and has got loads of pace“.

The striker managed three goals in his 24 appearances during his time at the Merseyside club.

Raul Correia will be eager to prove his worth with regular football and a chance to settle at a side, having spent the majority of his career in the English lower leagues.

The Lakesiders have far from struggled for goals, having scored 53 during the last campaign before the league was abruptly ended, second only to TNS in goals for.

This latest addition adds depth and fresh competition to Caton’s squad ahead of a more compressed season ahead, along with a potential Europa League run.

Having already signed proven Cymru North goalscorer, Llyr Morris, Bala are looking to add extra firepower in attack.

Alex Ramsay, signed from Caernarfon Town and Will Evans, an addition from Cardiff Metropolitan, are Bala’s other pieces of transfer business this summer.

Bala are set to face Valletta of Malta in their upcoming Europa League tie in the first qualifying round.

The game is still set to take place at the Ta’ Qali Stadium in Malta’s capital despite uncertainty regarding a travel ban imposed on Malta by the UK Government.
