Rhondda League’s Treherbert BGC promoted to South Wales Alliance League

Treherbet BGC have been promoted to the South Wales Alliance League.

They are being promoted from the Rhondda & District League after earning 32 points out of a possible 36.

Bettws and Nelson Cavaliers had their place confirmed, but the loose end was a points deduction for Gwynfi United.

The Port Talbot League outfit were deducted fifteen points, meaning Treherbet would be taking their place.

Treherbet’s ground passed the inspection of the South Wales FA, thus allowing them to compete in the sixth tier of Welsh football.

In a brief post on social media, the club said: “We’ve just had it confirmed that we will be playing in the South Wales Alliance League Division Two next season.

“Well done to all of the boys both off and on the field who have made it happen. We can’t wait to get going now.”

First-team manager Liam Goatson was delighted with the news, tweeting: “WE ARE GOING UP.”

Congratulating them on their success, the Rhondda League responded with: “Through all the adversity and uncertainty our Premiership Champions get the promotion they thoroughly deserve.

“Well done and all the very best at the next level from all of us on the RDFL Executive.”

Elsewhere in the Alliance League, Grange Albion were given a reprieve after Cardiff Draconians’ elevation to the Ardal Leagues.

Alliance League side Cardiff Airport, who will be playing at Jenner Park Stadium next season, were also given a reprieve and remain in Division One.
