Bala Town’s away friendly with Witton Albion is set to be the first fixture in which a Welsh domestic club can play with a crowd since the coronavirus pandemic.

The fixture, which will take place at Witton’s home of Wincham Park, will permit spectators.

Fans will have to abide to the clubs protocols when attending the fixture.

Matches in Wales are still being played behind-closed-doors and some Cymru Premier clubs have encountered difficulties in organising pre-season friendlies ahead of the new season.

In the last week, Welsh top flight clubs have played amongst themselves to aid their preparations for the new season, as well as those in European campaigns.

New boys Haverfordwest County played both Aberystwyth Town and Cardiff Metropolitan, whilst Connah’s Quay played the Cefn Druids, with all games behind-closed-doors.

Elsewhere, Barry Town United played FA Vase semifinalists Bitton, who play in the eighth tier of English football, in a behind-closed-doors match at Jenner Park Stadium.

Paul Evans, the current chairman of Caernarfon Town, tweeted how the Canaries are encountering difficulties in finding opposition ahead of the new season.

“Caernarfon Town are finding it extremely difficult to arrange friendlies due to FAW regulations, said Evans.

“Not blaming anyone but, with less than two weeks to go until the start of the campaign, it’s not ideal preparation, especially when four Cymru Premier clubs have been playing for weeks.”

Meanwhile, clubs in Wales below the top tier are still limited to training sessions with no more than thirty persons per Welsh Government rules.

The next Welsh Government review is set to take place on Friday, 11 September.
