Curtis McDonald: Barry sign Chippenham defender after long trial period
Barry Town United have signed experienced defender Curtis McDonald for the new season.
The Cardiff City academy product had been training with Barry during pre-season and has now joined the club.
McDonald is another long-term target of Barry boss Gavin Chesterfield and he has since secured his services.
“I’m pleased to welcome Curtis to the club as he is a player I’ve admired for a long time,” said Chesterfield.
“He brings a good level of experience and adds further leadership to the group.
“Whilst we’ve been working towards agreeing a deal he has shown a desire and willingness to be with us throughout pre-season and that has impressed me.
“He’s integrated seamlessly into the group and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
During his career, the 32-year-old played for Cardiff’s first-team and has spent a majority of his career in the English non-league scene.
Playing for Brackley Town, Forest Green Rovers and Newport County, McDonald brings a vast amount of experience to the Barry backline.
He also had a brief stint in Wales with Carmarthen Town but has been with Chippenham Town in recent years.
McDonald reunites with David Cotterill, whom he played with in the Wales U21s squad.
