Barry Town have announced the loan signing of Josh Gould from Championship outfit Swansea City.

Gould, formerly of Taff’s Well of the Cymru South, also has experience during spells at Bridgewater Town and Cardiff Metropolitan University.

The shot-stopper extended his contract with the Swans in January this year until the summer of 2022.

Gavin Chesterfield has added Gould to the Barry Town goalkeeping options of Mike Lewis and Harry Thomas-Barker.

Commenting on the signing, Chesterfield said, “It’s great to welcome Josh to the club and we thank Swansea for their trust.

“I believe we have a culture which professional clubs trust when it comes to assisting the professional development of their players.

“I first admired Josh some four seasons ago and since then he has benefited from some exceptional coaching and experiences at Swansea and I’m naturally delighted to welcome him as part of our squad.

“He brings a high level of technical ability but also offers a strong presence and adds further strength to our squad for the season ahead,” he added.

In their opening two fixtures of the Cymru Premier campaign, the Linnets succumbed to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of The New Saints on the opening day, but bounced back with a 3-1 victory over Caernarfon Town at Jenner Park on Saturday.

Gavin Chesterfield’s side now face a trip to Niall McGuinness’ Flint Town United, who have also recorded three points from their opening two games.
