Cardiff Metropolitan 0-3 Caernarfon Town: Clinical Cofis claim huge victory over Met

Caernarfon Town moved up to fourth after defeating Cardiff Metropolitan 2-0 at Cyncoed Campus.

Second-half goals goals from Cai Jones and Darren Thomas added to Sion Bradley’s 34th minute penalty after Eliot Evan’s missed spot kick earlier in the first-half.

The Archers meanwhile tasted defeat on home soil for a second time and remain winless at Cyncoed Campus.

Both sides created a number of opportunities but it was Huw Griffiths’ side who showed their clinical edge.

Both sides headed into the match without a host of players with a number ruled out through injury.

However, the players on show created an entertaining spectacle with a fas-paced start.

Sion Bradley created the first opportunity as neat footwork allowed for a run into the box to force Will Fuller into a save at his near post.

Paulo Mendes then went close to scoring as his header was cleared off the line by Craig Davies.

Met’s first chance was from the returning Harry Warwick as he flicked behind a header from Davies’ cross.

They were presented with the best chance to break the deadlock as the referee awarded a penalty to the hosts following Darren Thomas’ cleaning out Charlie Corsby.

Talisman Eliot Evans stepped forward for the spot kick and hit his shot right at Josh Tibbetts who saved well.

Tibbetts made another fine save as he touched away Kyle McCarthy’s smacked effort.

Picking himself up from his penalty miss, Evans tried to make amends as his turned effort went just past the post.

After his penalty was missed, a penalty was awarded up the other end as Corsby tripped Bradley.

Bradley who earnt the spot-kick delivered from the spot as he drilled his effort past the diving Fuller.

Defending their goal, Joe Williams made a superb block on the line to deny Liam Black after he was well found by McCarthy’s corner kick.

As Met remerged from the second-half they began on the front foot as Liam Warman made a number of runs down his flank.

The Cofis were penned into their own half but Met weren’t creating many clearcut opportunities.

Asa Hamilton instead almost snuck a second goal in for the away side as he reached Telor Williams’ diagonal ball but saw his poked effort cleared by Rhydian Morgan.

Fuller almost made a costly error for his side as he dropped Paulo Mendes’ cross but was available to recover.

The Met goalkeeper proved his worth by making a fine save from Mendes from close range.

The tide was with Caernarfon and Darren Thomas went near as his shot whistled past the post.

The Canaries’ pressure paid off as Thomas ran onto Sam Jones’ pass and was able to cut inside and shoot past Fuller.

Thomas later turned provider for Cai Jones as his cross was touched in by the Cofi forward.

Caernarfon remained unchallenged in the second-half and ground out for an impressive win.
