The New Saints 10-0 Flint Town United: Ten-tastic TNS hit double figures against SIlkmen

The New Saints stay unbeaten in the JD Cymru Premier as they thrash Flint Town United 10-0.

The victory against Flint is the second time TNS have scored ten at home with the other against Rhyl in August 2016.

Greg Draper scored five goals to break Mike Wilde’s club record with two goals from Jon Routledge and the other scorers being Ryan Harrington, Louis Robles and Kwame Boateng being the difference to see Scott Ruscoe’s men victorious against last season’s Cymru North champions.

Within the first minute Louis Robles was through on goal for The Saints, but the flag went up for offside.

Not long after a mix up within the Flint defence led to Cieslewicz getting the ball and passing it to Robles in the box, the number 18 shot but Danby saved easily.

The Silkmen had an opportunity themselves in the 9th minute when Robert Hughes had a shot from distance, but Paul Harrison managed to get a glove on the ball to stop it.

In the 17th minute Leo Smith passed the ball through to Louis Robles who Danby took out and the referee pointed to the spot with Greg Draper stepping up a minute later and scoring to send the Saints a goal up.

Five minutes later Robles got a shot at goal only for Flint replacement goalkeeper Aaron Jones to palm it away.

Scott Ruscoe’s side were in again on the 33rd minute when Cieslewicz passed the ball to Jon Routledge who got it passed Jones to give the home side a 2-0 lead.

The Saints scored their third in the 43rd minute as Robles initial shot was saved by Jones but Draper scored on the rebound to equal Mike Wilde’s club record for goals.

Draper broke Wilde’s record several minutes into the second half, scoring on the rebound of a Robles Shot and send the game to 4-0.

In the 64th minute Ryan Harrington got on the score board when he did a good one-two with Leo Smith to break through the Flint defence and score past Jones.

Only a couple of minutes later Draper got himself a fourth when Jamie Mullan crossed the ball into box with the New Zealander managing to get a touch on it to send the score to six.

Mullan got another assist in the 78th minute when he whipped a wonderful cross with Robles heading the ball into the back of the net for his fourth competitive goal of the season.

It was eight for the Saints not long after when Draper passed the ball to Routledge who tucked it passed Jones to score a brace.

A 9th goal soon followed when the Saints number nine Draper got his fifth of the game as Robles squared the ball to the new club record scorer to shoot into an empty net.

The final goal of the day went to Kwame Boateng in stoppage time as a scramble in the box left the ball to fall to the right back to get his first goal for the club.

TNS will now go on to face Newtown on Tuesday evening at home.

Flint will also play at home on the same day as they host Bala Town.
