Barry Town got back to winning ways with a 6-3 victory over Flint Town United in a chaotic battle at Jenner Park

Jordan Cotterill’s early strike, along with Sam Bowen’s emphatic finish had the Linnets cruising, until Mark Cadwallader halved the deficit.

Striker and captain Kayne McLaggon netted his fifth goal of the season just a minute later to restore the two-goal lead, before Luke Cooper added a fourth in the second-half.

Cadwallader headed home from a corner to reduce the deficit for the Silkmen, while Conor Harwood netted another for Flint, but it wasn’t enough to complete an unlikely comeback.

Goals in the dying minutes from Nat Jarvis and Jordan Cotterill sealed a dramatic win for the hosts.

The victory sees Gavin Chesterfield’s side end their run of six games without a win.

Despite a battling performance, Flint Town United succumbed to their third-straight defeat and remain in 11th in the Cymru Premier table.

Struggling for goals so far this season, the hosts came out of the blocks quickly and went ahead after just five minutes.

Playmaker Jordan Cotterill was played through on goal and delicately prodded the ball past John Danby for his third goal of the season.

Barry could have doubled their lead through former Wales international David Cotterill.

The midfielder tried his luck from distance, but his powerful strike was narrowly wide.

Chesterfield’s side had another opportunity to grab a second goal, when Kayne McLaggon beat his man on the left, but was denied by the on-rushing Danby.

Flint Town grew into the contest after competed well with the Linnets after falling behind, but failed to trouble debutant goalkeeper Josh Gould.

The visitors were punished as Barry Town showed their quality with an intricate move to secure a second goal.

Luke Cummings and Jordan Cotterill combined on the right, the latter finding Sam Bowen free in the box to emphatically fire past Danby.

Niall McGuinness’ side responded well to falling further behind, as Conor Harwood combined well with Callum Bratley for the visitors.

The latter struck a fierce effort onto the post, but Mark Cadwallader was on-hand to halve the deficit.

Barry Town found an instant reply however, as captain McLaggon cut inside from the left and fired brilliantly into the far corner to restore the Linnets’ two-goal advantage before the break.

Both sides had opportunities early in the second-half, as Harwood and McLaggon both had efforts at goal saved.

The hosts had the ball in the net when Jordan Cotterill’s shot was latched onto by Evan Press, who turned home, only to be caught offside.

Barry weren’t to be denied however, as David Cotterill’s free-kick delivery was inch-perfect for defender Luke Cooper to head past Danby for the fourth.

Captain McLaggon almost netted his second of the game with what would have been a goal of the season contender.

The striker met Chris Hugh’s corner with an overhead kick that flew narrowly wide.

Nial McGuinness’ side pulled a goal back with just over 25 minutes to play, as Mark Cadwallader headed home from a corner to bring the Silkmen back within two.

In a dramatic second-half, Conor Harwood was quickest to react in the box to fire past Gould and pull another goal back.

After a spell of sustained pressure, Barry managed to weather the storm and secured the victory late-on.

Jordan Cotterill raced in-behind on the counter-attack and squared to Nat Jarvis, who slotted home and sealed the fifth for Barry.

Cotterill then grabbed his second, beating Danby to the ball to secure a valuable three points.

The Linnets return to action on Tuesday night, as they travel to Haverfordwest County, while Flint Town United face a trip to Penybont next weekend.
