Dinas Powys appoint Geza Hajgato as first-team manager

Dinas Powys have appointed former player Geza Hajgato as their new first-team manager.

Hajgato returns to the club in the place of Jamie Harris, who stood down from his role last week.

Rhys Schuster, also relinquished control of first-team duties in late November, allowing Hajgato to take sole charge. He will be assisted by Robert Brown.

Commenting on his appointment, the former Cardiff City trainee said: “I’m really happy to be back at Dinas Powys as manager. It’s a club I know well from playing here. It all happened quickly and I thank Brian and Rob for the opportunity.

“There has been great progress at the club over the last 18 months with a hard working committee gaining the Tier Three Certificate and FAW Silver Accreditation.

“Rhys and Jamie have built a good, young squad and backroom team. I’m looking forward to continuing the good work done by them

“It’s going to be a big challenge, there are some big teams with big budgets in our league, but with hardworking and commitment and togetherness, I’m sure this young squad can improve and compete at this level, shocking a few along the way.”

In response to his appointment, the club said: “Dinas Powys are very happy to announce that Geza Hajgato will be joining use s first-team manager with immediate effect.

“Geza brings a welsh of experience at this level having previously played and captained us. He also took STM Sports on their amazing journey over the last ten plus years.

“The club are excited with his appointment and expect he will carry on the good work that has been achieved in the last 18 months and take the team to new levels.”

Once the youngest chairman in Welsh football, Hajgato had most recently been involved involved in the running of the now defunct STM Sports.

The former Pontypridd man played a number of times for the club during his time as co-chairman with Nigel Bircham and featured in the Mellons’ 2-1 Nathaniel MG Cup semi-final victory over Aberystwyth Town.
