Cefn Druids forward Jamie Reed has announced he is to take a break from playing.
The 33-year-old has featured in all of the Ancients’ Cymru Premier fixtures this season, playing 838 minutes and scoring two goals.
However with the club training three times a week, as well as a match day and his coaching commitments, this has taken its toll on Reed.
“Last week I spent 10 days straight at the club alongside a full-time job and a family with a baby due in less than three weeks,” revealed Reed on Twitter.
“It is a big commitment and one I have really struggled with recently.
“This is not a retirement by any means but more of a mental break and reset on the playing side.
“This gives me the opportunity to really focus on a real passion in helping these younger players reach the potential I know they have!
“We have a very good U19s side that have a great opportunity. I’m looking forward to seeing a couple make their first team debuts. Hopefully one in particular can step into the gap I will be leaving.
“Finally, I want to wish all the lads and coaches the best of luck moving forward. I know they have enough to get out of trouble. It’s just time for them all to step up and get the results the performances deserve.”
