Nottingham Forest are eyeing up Plymouth and Wales striker Luke Jephcott in the January transfer window, according to reports.
The Athletic are reporting that Forest have been keeping an eye on the youngster who has been touted as a future Wales international and Chris Hughton may consider a move for him during the current transfer window.
The Aberystwyth born forward has had a breakout season sitting joint-top goal scorer of League One with 12 goals having played two games less than his main rival for the award Jonson Clarke-Harris.
Jephcott had already caught the eye of many top flight clubs last season having won the EFL League Two Player of the Month and EFL Young Player of the Month awards for January 2020.
The 20-year old has been one individual who has benefitted from the postponement of the Euros as he will now be in hot contention to make the 23-man team.
In the lead up to the January transfer window current Plymouth boss Ryan Lowe told Plymouth Live that Luke Jephcott will be going nowhere.
“He’s our player, he’s Plymouth Argyle’s player”, Lowe said. “He’s not going anywhere any time soon.
“He’s still not the finished article. He has still got a lot to learn.
“Any goalscorer is going to get recognised but we are not in a position that we need to sell anyone.”
Jephcott has already established himself as a key player for The Pilgrims having notched 21 goals in 45 appearances.
Should Argyle retain the Welsh wonderkid and Jephcott continue his stellar season then the youngster may soon catch the eye of Premier League outfits who will be looking to take a chance on the 20-year-old who has yet to dissapoint.
