Lauren Smith has been appointed Assistant Coach of Tottenham Hotspur Women, where she will work alongside Head Coach Rehanne Skinner.

Smith joins the Women’s Super League club having been Assistant Coach of the Wales Women’s National side since 2017.

Spurs are currently seventh in the WSL table, having recorded 12 points from their opening ten games.

During her time with Wales, the senior team broke into the top 30 of the FIFA Women’s Rankings for the first time and narrowly missed out on qualifying for a major tournament.

Smith’s departure follows the news that Jayne Ludlow has left her role as Wales’ Head Coach by mutual consent.

The 42-year-old will take up a role with FIFA, as part of a technical leadership team, similar to the role of Arsene Wenger.
