Scott Young has been appointed as the new manger of Cambrian & Clydach Vale following the departure of Lee Kendall.

Cardiff City legend Young is replacing Lee Kendall, who departs the Tonypandy club for a full-time coaching role in the USA.

Kendall, who moved from Taffs Well in December, oversaw their Nathaniel MG Cup victory over Port Talbot Town.

In the club statement announcing Kendall’s departure, it read: “We are extremely disappointed we will be losing him, but in our heart of hearts, who can blame him?”

“In his short stint he has brought an energy to the position, enhanced the way we think about how we run the football side of the club and brought a professional feel to it. “

In his place is Scott Young, who has been a familiar face at the club, having been part of setting up the academy, Scott’s son Connor is also a first-team player.

Young’s last role in management came at Cardiff City, where he was in brief caretaker charge of the Championship club, before being moving into the assistant manager to Russell Slade in 2016.

The 45-year-old had previously managed AFC Porth from 2009 to 2012.

During his time at Dinas Park, he guided Porth to promotion, before later taking up the same role at Port Talbot Town.

“We are sure he will hit the ground running in what will be a very quick turnaround to the start of the season,” said the club statement announcing the Bluebirds legend.

“We believe we can give him the perfect platform to achieve his UEFA Pro Licence and with this the push to the Cymru Premier, which is the clubs ultimate goal.

“Scott knows the club inside out having been involved with the academy in its early days as well as having a background in developing young players from his coaching days at Cardiff City. We can’t wait to see what the future holds with Scott at the helm and we wish him well.”
