Cambrian & Clydach Vale defeated Port Talbot Town 4-2 on penalties to progress in the Nathaniel MG Cup.

Josh Bull, scored the decisive spot-kick to ensure victory for Lee Kendall in his first game in charge of the Cam Army.

Bull, a summer signing from Blaenavon Blues, scored a last-gasp equaliser to send the tie into penalties to cancel out Jordan Edward’s eighth minute opener.

The hosts started the game brightly and had an early chance as Edwards tested the hands of Cameron Clarke.

Their early pressure paid as they broke on the counter attack to score through Edwards. Port Talbot broke from their own box and Edwards scored with a  composed finish past the Cambrian goalekeeper.

After the goal Cambrian looked fired up and piled on the pressure but were unable to do much in the final third.

Port Talbot came close to doubling their lead with a chance from Jackson Hall going just wide after being put through by Jordan Edwards.

The early setback incensed Cambrian and it provided motivation for them to get back into the game.

However they almost conceded a second goal as Jackson Hall went close following a play-in from Edwards.

Cambrian had their period to attack and James Harris was needed as he outstretched his leg to deny the mazy run of Bull.

Mark Pike was forced to making an early change as Ryan Morgan limped off the pitc, with Jack Underwood the option replacing him.

As half time approached the game was evenly contested throughout, with both teams battling in the middle and defending well.

The second half began with Cambrian pinning Port Talbot back to their own goal. However everything Cambrian threw was dealt with by the Port Talbot defence who held up strongly.

Cambrian came close early on in the second half with a header from a corner which was cleared off the line by Jordan Pike .

The Sky Blues, donning a yellow kit, looked the more likely to score throughout the half and came close to scoring again with Sam Jones being denied at point-blank range.

Port Talbot had to defend most of the second half and Cambrian did have a goal disallowed, when the ball looked like it had crossed the line but a final touch from Jones on the line was deemed to be offside.

However late into added time Cambrian and Clydach finally got their reward when a curling effort from Bull found the bottom corner of the net to send the game into a penalty shootout

Connor Harris and Liam Edwards both successfuly converted their spot-kicks, but David Thomas and Jordan Edwards then missed in the second round of penalties.

Cambrian wouldn’t miss another though, as Jarrad Wright and Josh Bull scored theirs to ensure a passage into the next round for the Rhondda side.
