‘React’: Briton Ferry seek response after back-to-back Cymru Premier defeats

Briton Ferry will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing pair of games over the bank holiday when they take on Airbus UK Broughton in the Cymru Premier.

Both teams will look at their results as a mixed bag as they head into a period that sees them face five games in three weeks.

As The Ferrymen embark on their third season in the first division, Andy Dyer will be looking for his team to use their experience to get the better of an Airbus team who were promoted from the Cymru North last term.

The manager will look no further when searching for experience within his squad than Tom Price, who has chalked up full 90s in all six of the opening games in his eighth season at this level.

“We are looking to bounce back…”

The 26-year-old admits that Ferry will need to dust themselves off as they really get into the swing of the season.

“Before the bank holiday weekend, we were quite pleased with how the season had gone. We hadn’t conceded too many goals, and had a good performance away at TNS as well.”

“The last two didn’t quite go as we hoped, we conceded quite a few goals. We are looking to bounce back this Friday against Airbus.”

“Losing a couple of games isn’t something that we’re unfamiliar with and we know how to react.”

Briton Ferry hopeful for Europe this season

As The Ferrymen embark on their third season in the first division, Price is hoping for their upward trajectory to continue.

“Last year was definitely a step forward, now we want to be in a position where we’re fighting for playoffs and then Europe hopefully.”

“We have still got a bit of work to do to get ourselves into that position, but hopefully come the end of phase one, we’ll be in and around it.”

Promoted Cymru Premier teams providing “really tough tests”

Andy Dyer’s side have already played two of the promoted sides this season, beating Ammanford on the opening day and gaining a point against Cambrian.

Price, the ex-Swansea City man, will be hoping to keep up their unbeaten record against the newcomers to the Cymru Premier, but admits it won’t be straightforward at Old Road on Friday.

“Looking at the weekend, they have shown they’ve got plenty of threat going forward, we’ll be aware of that and we’ll do our work this week.”

But the midfielder is assured that Ferry are ready after their preparation this week.

“We know that we’ve got threats of our own, we’ll try and nullify what they bring, and also try and cause them problems as well.”

Ferry’s home atmosphere “massive” for Price

The Neath-based side will be hoping to use their stadium to their advantage on Friday as they look to put the bank holiday results behind them.

“We’ve had good attendances so far, and that makes a hell of a difference in all fairness.”

“There’s a good group of supporters coming to our games and making a lot of noise and the lads always appreciate that support.”

The game takes place at The Renewable Centre Stadium at 7:45 p.m. on Friday, with both teams vying for a place further up the table.
