Trefelin land Saint Lucia international, former Colchester United midfielder and prolific Canadian striker
Trefelin have completed the signings of Saint Lucia international Bayan Aman and Canadian centre-forward Owen Degelman as they strengthen their squad with two young players boasting experience from overseas.
Aman, 21, joins the Cymru Premier club after coming through the academy at Colchester United and arrives with more than 100 first-team appearances across club and country already under his belt.
The midfielder has won six senior caps for Saint Lucia and is regarded as an energetic player with an eye for goal from distance, as well as a strong range of passing.
Despite his age, Aman has already experienced football in several different countries and will bring a wealth of experience to Trefelin.
Saint Lucia international Aman arrives at Trefelin after spell in Bosnia
Aman spent time on loan with Felixstowe & Walton United during his spell with Colchester before leaving the League Two club to join Hendon FC in the Isthmian League Premier Division.
He subsequently moved to Sutton Common Rovers, also in the Isthmian League Premier Division, before making the decision to leave the UK in February 2025.
The midfielder joined FK Velez Nevesinje in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s First League of the Republika Srpska, making 28 appearances and scoring twice.
Aman has also shared the pitch with Rico Hackett, who now plays for Lincoln City, at international level with Saint Lucia.
During his time in the Colchester academy, he came up against Bournemouth’s Tyler Adams, while his international career has seen him work under Stern John.
Stern is Saint Lucia’s all-time leading goalscorer and a former CONCACAF record-holder.
Degelman returns to the UK after prolific Germany spell
Trefelin have also moved to bolster their attacking options with the signing of Degelman.
The 21-year-old centre-forward will have a second spell playing football in the United Kingdom after previously spending seven months in Northern Ireland with Armagh City.
Born in Calgary, Alberta, Degelman joins Trefelin after a productive campaign in Germany with TS Woltmershausen.
He scored 15 goals and registered six assists in the Bremen-Liga last season, with the division representing the fifth tier of German football.
Speaking on his move, he said: “It means a great deal to me, and I’m really excited to be joining such an ambitious club as Trefelin begin their first season in the Cymru Premier. I’m also incredibly proud to have the opportunity to play in a European first tier for the first time in my career.
“I’m looking to bring goals and traditional centre-forward play to the team, using my size and technical ability to link the play, bring my teammates into the game and, of course, take my chances when they come my way.
“As a striker, I know I’ll always be judged on my goal tally, and I definitely have some individual targets in mind, but ultimately the most important thing is contributing to the team’s success and doing whatever the manager asks of me.
“I was already familiar with the league to some extent and knew it had a reputation for being direct, physical and fast-paced, so I’m really looking forward to getting integrated into the squad, experiencing that first-hand and continuing to learn and develop along the way.”
Degelman has also had spells with German clubs Chemnitzer FC and TSV Aubstadt, while he has featured for Canadian Premier League side HFX Wanderers, the former club of Cardiff Met forward Fumpa Mwandwe.
The striker also qualifies to represent Ireland and comes from a footballing family. His older brother Kyle also played football, featuring for Bray Wanderers, among other clubs.
Degelman’s move to Trefelin represents a return to the UK as he looks to build on his experience in Germany and continue his career in Welsh football.
“More than any coach, the biggest influencer and foundation behind my football career has always been my parents,” he responded when asked about his biggest influence in the sport.
“Giving me the support to move abroad at a young age was an experience that shaped me and challenged me in ways staying home never could. My time in Germany helped me grow tremendously as both a person and a player, and without them that would never have been a possibility.”
The double signing gives Trefelin two players with international and overseas experience as they continue to shape their squad.
