Jess Fishlock recalled by OL Reign after successful Reading loan spell

Wales international Jess Fishlock has been recalled by OL Reign from her loan spell at Reading, effective from April 5th.

Fishlock has played in all 15 of Reading’s Women’s Super League matches this season, who currently sit mid-table.

The midfielder has found the back of the net twice and has assisted three goals for the Royals this term; only Fishlock’s Wales teammate Rachel Rowe has scored more.

The 34-year-old was nominated for December’s WSL Player of the Month, scoring in the 1-1 draw against Bristol City.

Reading have three more games against Bristol, Tottenham and Manchester City before Fishlock will depart the Berkshire based club and return to America.

Fishlock was thankful to both clubs and said: “I have to thank OL Reign as always for being so understanding regarding the loan, as the opportunity to train and play over the last few months has been super important to me

“I will be giving everything for Reading until my last day with the club, as they have been brilliant with me and I am thankful for the opportunity they provided.

“And of course, I am very, very excited for the NWSL season. I cannot wait to get back and join my girls for the season. It has been a long time coming, but I have a feeling this season for us will be great and I can’t wait to be a part of it.”

During her time at the Madejski Stadium, she has been part of a strong five-person cohort of Welsh internationals of Angharad James, Lily Woodham, Natasha Harding and Rachel Rowe.

Fishlock has been with OL Reign since 2013 but has spent numerous times away from the States.

In Australia she won the W-League Championship three-times with Melbourne City.

She was also a two-time UEFA Champions League winner with FFC Frankfurt and Lyon.
