Connah’s Quay Nomads have announced the signing of experienced midfielder Neil Danns.

Danns, 38, whose move is subject to international clearance, has made over 400 appearances in the Football League and has international experience with Guyana.

The midfielder started his career at Blackburn Rovers, during which time he had loan spells at Blackpool, Hartlepool United and Colchester United.

Danns joined the latter on a permanent basis in 2004 and spent two years at the club before joining Birmingham City.

The Guyanan international made 103 appearances for Crystal Palace, whilst also having permanent spells in the Football League at Leicester City, Bolton, Bury and Tranmere Rovers.

Most recently, Danns has played for the likes of Radcliffe, Halifax Town and was on trial at Chorley, where the Nomads spotted him after their season was curtailed.

On the international stage, the midfielder made his Guyana debut in March 2015, where he setup both goals in a 2-0 victory over Grenada.

Danns was also part of Guyana’s 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup squad and scored all three of his countries goals in the competition.

Nomads boss Andy Morrison expressed his delight at the capture of the experienced midfielder: “It’s not about numbers, it’s about quality and Neil brings great quality and great experience.

“When those games get a bit tasty later on and it’s a big high pressure game, and there are huge pressure games for different reasons in this league.

“When they come along you want experience, you want legs, you want people that have been at and played at a level where that game won’t phase them and Neil’s come in and signed until the end of the season and I’m absolutely delighted.”

Connah’s Quay Nomads get back to their defence of the Cymru Premier title on March 6 as they welcome Newtown to Deeside Stadium.
