Wales will prepare for their 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers with two home friendlies against Canada (Friday, 9 April) and Denmark (Monday, 13 April).
Both matches will be played on home soil which will see Wales return to the Cardiff City Stadium to face Denmark, who are ranked 8th in the FIFA world rankings, after their narrow 1-0 defeat against Norway back in October – the venue for the fixture against Canada has yet to be confirmed.
Wales have faced both the Danes and Canadians once in the past; the North Americans were 4-0 victors in the 2002 Algarve Cup and Denmark also defeated Wales back in 2011 with a 3-0 win in the 2011 Matchworld Women’s Cup.
With Wales still having yet replaced the recently departed Jayne Ludlow, it could potentially be the first fixtures for a very promising side under new management, with the dream of reaching a major tournament for the first time ever a definite possibility, after narrowly failing to qualify for Euro 2022.
The two fixtures against two of the world’s heavyweights in the women’s game will be crucial in preparing for the upcoming 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers with the draw taking place on Friday, 30 April.
The kick-off times have not yet been announced.
