Flint Town United 0-2 Caernarfon Town: Cofis extend unbeaten run to six matches

Caernarfon Town extend their unbeaten run to six matches as Flint Town United fell to another defeat.

Second-half goals from Paolo Mendes and Sion Bradley saw the Cofis leave the Essity Stadium with all three points after a composed performance from the Gwynedd side.

Flint remain in the relegation zone after losing their third straight match occupying 11th in the table meanwhile Caernarfon temporarily move into the top six as Haverfordwest County play later.

A scrappy first half saw neither team gain the upper hand. Midfield battles and long balls were the tale of the half, as well as a strong goalkeeping performance from Jonathan Rushton.

The Flint goalkeeper made numerous saves to keep his side from going behind. He saved efforts from Jack Kenny, Sion Bradley and Jake Bickerstaff.

Flint had a header cleared off the line in the 20th minute. Mike Parker cleared the Silkmen’s effort from a corner.

Some bright sparks of play from Wrexham loanee, Jake Bickerstaff, lit up the play towards the end of the first half. He had an effort on goal saved by Rushton, after he beat a Flint defender with some fine trickery.

The second half started with Flint on the front foot, dominating possession, but not getting any efforts on goal.

Their dominance didn’t last very long, as Caernarfon took the lead as Paolo Mendes headed home from a corner kick.

Caernarfon soon had a second, as Sion Bradley was sent in on goal by Jack Kenny, and made no mistake in slotting past Rushton in the goal.

Jack Kenny struck the bar after 73 minutes. His headed effort on goal from a cross from the right hand side came very close.

Some strong play from Flint towards the latter stages of the game almost got them a goal back. Rob Hughes’ free-kick from a tight angle almost caught out Josh Tibbetts, but the goalkeeper made a fine save to deny the midfielder.
