Cardiff Metropolitan University were left to rue missed chances as they were held to a goalless draw by Cefn Druids at Cyncoed Campus.

Christian Edwards’ side created a number of opportunities in search of their first win since the re-start, but the hosts couldn’t take advantage.

The point sees the Archers drop down to tenth in the Cymru Premier, as Aberystwyth Town claimed three points over Newtown.

As for Druids, they remain at the foot of the table, but claim their first point in six games.

The Archers came out of the blocks quickly and created numerous chances to take an early lead.

Talisman Eliot Evans found space on the edge of the box to force a save out of Mike Jones in the opening minute.

Midfielder Harry Owen then fired over for the hosts, as the hosts continued their positive start.

A golden chance then fell for Christian Edwards’ side, with Evans crossing perfectly for Thomas Price whose header was straight at Jones.

The hosts continued to control possession, with Evans firing wide at the near post in another chance to open the scoring.

The Students thought they had taken the lead through Price, who fired past Jones, only for the referee to spot a foul in the build-up.

Another chance fell for the hosts with Price again involved; his headed effort flew narrowly over the bar.

As the two sides went into half-time goalless, Edwards’ side would have been wondering how they weren’t ahead, having created numerous opportunities.

The start of the second-half was much more even than the first, as the Druids competed well with the hosts.

The visitors’ defensive performance in the second-half was resolute and full of determination to keep a clean sheet.

Despite the visitors’ growth into the game, the Archers continued to create chances, as substitute Josh Thomas found space in the box, but could only fire a tame effort at goal.

Another chance fell for Thomas, as left-back Matthew Blake put in an excellent cross, but the young striker couldn’t quite turn home.

Blake was again involved in another opportunity for the hosts, firing a free-kick from the edge of the box narrowly over the bar.

Despite creating a number of chances, Edwards’ side were forced to settle for a point by a determined Druids performance.

The Archers continue their search for a first win since the re-start as they travel to Caernarfon Town next week, while Cefn Druids face Aberystwyth Town.
