Here are the key talking points from the game.
Clash of Styles
It was a game of differing styles on Saturday between the sides.
Penybont built from the back and tried to work the ball across the pitch. Mael Davies and Kane Owen supporting in Penybont’s attacks. They looked to work the ball out wide and bring Nathan Wood in to play in and around the area.
Caernarfon tried to use their size and strength to their advantage. Trying to catch Penybont on the counter attack with more direct play into Michael Hayes and Jack Kenny.
It made for an interesting contest but Penybont were able to stand up to Caernarfon and their better passing made the difference.
Kostya Georgievsky
Scoring one goal and helping to create the second Kostya Georgievsky put in a fine performance for Penybont.
Making runs down the flank and getting himself into the box on multiple occasions he was a constant threat to Caernarfon’s defenders.
He got his goal n the first half turning in from close range. He had other chances including a header in the second half.
Georgievsky was also quite happy to mix it physically with Caernarfon always showing his wiliness to work for his team.
Captain Kane
Kane Owen lead by example.
He did not stop running whether it be to help in attack or to track back and defend.
He went close with a free kick in the second half and was only denied by a fine Lewis Brass save.
His crosses and corners were a danger every time he sent the ball into the Caernarfon box.
Six with out a win
It’s now six defeats in row for Caernarfon. Its been a poor month for Caernarfon as they have yet to gain a point in April.
Caernarfon’s last win was on 27th March when they beat Cardiff Met by three goals to two.
What makes this run even stranger is prior to this bad run of form that had been unbeaten in eight games.
They will what to pick up their form ahead of the play-offs.
Mael Davies
Mael Davies has been one Penybont’s outstanding performers this season.
Davies put in another fine display against Caernarfon Town. Davies defended well and was able to help out in attacks. On one of those occasions he saw his long range effort blocked by the Caernarfon defence.
During the second half he left the field to receive treatment after a heavy clash. Davies was able to return to the game but was replaced not long after by Connor Davies.
