Haverfordwest County complete the signing of Cardiff Met’s Dylan Rees

Haverfordwest County have made Cardiff Met‘s Dylan Rees their first signing of the summer transfer window.

The Bluebirds have swooped to sign Rees following his exit from Cyncoed Campus after he secured a job closer to his hometown of Tenby.

Rees reunites with manager Wayne Jones after the pair had a brief spell at Aberystwyth Town in 2017. He puts pen-to-paper on a two-year deal with the club.

Commenting on his arrival, Jones said: “I’ve worked with Dylan before and know what he’ll bring to the table, he’s a winner.

His experience at this level will help the players around him, he’s won trophies and played in Europe which valuable to the group, he’s a great signing for us.”

The 24-year-old moved to Cardiff Met in July 2017 and spent four seasons with the Archers, where he won both the Europa League play-off final and the Nathaniel MG Cup.

He experienced Europa League football with the club and netted in their 2-1 victory over Progrès Niederkorn.

In total, he made 110 appearances across all Welsh domestic competitions and in European football for the Met. Rees featured 21 times for the Christian Edwards’ side this season, scoring on two occasions.

As a reward for his service to the team, he received the Alun Evans awards at Met’s end-of-season awards.

Rees arrival in West Wales coincides with the new contracts that Haverfordwest gave to former Wales defender Jazz Richards and goalkeeper Wojciech Gajda.

Marcus Griffiths, Nicky Palmer and Trystan Jones have all been released.

Meanwhile long-serving defender Sean Pemberton announced his retirement following the completion of the 2020/21 season.

Danny Williams and Matt Turner have also returned to their parent clubs following the expiration of their loans.

Williams however has been released by Cardiff City after three years as a contracted player with the EFL Championship outfit.
