Connah’s Quay Nomads have confirmed that Park Avenue, the home of Aberystwyth Town, will host their European fixtures this summer.

The club, who recently won a second Cymru Premier title in as many years, have become accustomed to playing across Wales in recent seasons, with Cardiff, Wrexham, Bangor and Rhyl all playing host to the Deeside outfit.

The ground, which has an official capacity of 1,980, last hosted a European match in the 2014-15 season, when Aberystwyth lost 5-0 to Derry City, and 9-0 on aggregate in the Europa League. This will be the first time that the Ceredigion club will host a Champions League fixture.

It was announced last week that Newtown, who will play in the Europa League qualifiers, have been forced to move to The New Saints’ Park Hall for their home games.

Andy Morrison’s side competed in the qualifying rounds of the Champions League for the first time last season, exiting at the first round stage with a 2-0 defeat to Bosnian side FK Sarajevo at the Cardiff City Stadium.

A statement on the club website said: “We would like to thank Aberystwyth Town and their staff for making the stadium available to us as we enter our second ever Champions’ League campaign.”

Due to their coefficient ranking, the Nomads are one of 16 unseeded teams for the first qualifying round draw. Should they be unsuccessful in their tie, they will drop into the Europa Conference League Champions Path second qualifying round.

The Nomads will discover their first qualifying round opponents on Tuesday, June 15 at 11:00 BST.
