Newtown confirm the signing of Naim Arsan

Newtown have strengthened their squad ahead of their UEFA Europa Conference League campaign with the acquisition of full-back Naim Arsan.

The 27-year-old announced his departure from Cefn Druids last week. Arsan served six years for the Ancients after signing from Conwy Borough.

Arsan has experience playing in Europe, having taken on Lithuanian outfit FK Trakai in the Europa League in 2018, and will be hoping to make his competitive debut for the Robins in Europe against Dundalk.

He represented Wales’ futsal team, having also played for Wales C in their 3-2 defeat to England C at Jenner Park in 2018.

Arsan made his debut for the Robins in a pre-season friendly at Latham Park against Llanidloes Town. The match was a test event for spectators as Welsh football begins to welcome back fans.

Commenting on his arrival, Arsan said: “Thanks for the warm welcome Newtown, I can not wait for the season to start.”

Arsan’s arrival follows the announcement of manager Chris Hughes penning a two-year contract extension at the club.
