Haverfordwest sign Kyle Patten as Cam Keetch departs for Merthyr
Kyle Patten has made the move across the Cymru Premier by leaving Barry Town United for league rivals Havefordwest County.
Patten, who can operate predominantly as a midfielder but also as a centre-back moves to the Bridge Meadow Stadium for the 2021/22 season.
He becomes the third player to arrive this summer after the recent additions of Dylan Rees from Cardiff Met and Henry Jones respectively.
The 26-year-old had been at Barry for a season-and-a-half, joining in January 2020. He made three appearances before the 2019/20 season was curtailed.
Patten would remain at Jenner Park for the next season, making 15 appearances under Gavin Chesterfield.
Prior to joining Barry, he played in the English non-league system with Merthyr Town for four years. He was also in the academies of both Cardiff City and Newport County.
Commenting on his latest signing, manager Wayne Jones said: “Kyle is a great player and has a wealth of experience in this division.
“He’s a powerful defender and exactly what we need.”
There is an outgoing from Haverfordwest though with Cameron Keetch opting to move on to Merthyr Town.
Keetch, who can operate in a variety of roles, played one season with Haverfordwest before seeking pastures new.
The 21-year-old made 27 appearances, scoring two goals, helping the West Wales side to an eight placed finish.
Martyrs boss Dean Clarke said: “It’s a huge signing for us to attract someone of Keetch’s pedigree and shows how we’re trying to approach the new season.
“He’s a player who has been on our radar for some time, so I’m absolutely delighted to welcome him to the football club and hopefully he can take us to the next level.
“He has bags of quality which will only be a bonus for us going forward. He’s also a great character off the pitch too and I think he’s a perfect fit for this football club.”
