Llantwit Major maintained their unbeaten start to the Cymru South by inflicting a shock 3-1 defeat on Ammanford.

Josh Jones opened the scoring before Thomas Walters added Major’s second with a penalty.

Liam Samuel pulled one back for the hosts two minutes later in the 38th minute, but Cullen Kinsella’s second-half screamer ensured victory at The Recreation Ground for Karl Lewis’ men.

Karl Lewis’ side have now picked up ten points from a possible 12, meanwhile, Ammanford are in a bit of a slump, having lost their last two games.

Two early chances fell to the home side with Tristan Jenkins and Liam Samuel having two faint attempts at Lansdown.

Despite the early pressure from Ammanford, it was Llantwit Major’s Josh Jones who put his team ahead. A lovely ball was put through for Jones to take on the keeper and he delivered by slotting home past Morris.

The hosts pushed hard for an equaliser, however could not find the finishing touch.

When Ammanford were failing to get past a very solid defensive setup, Jones on the other end of the pitch was causing problems, with his pace.

Jones almost scored his second when he broke through the line of defence, his charge down on Craig Morris almost went into the net.

Ammanford were powerless to resist Jones’ performance and had to concede a penalty for Jones’ trickery. Up stepped Thomas Walters to score his fifth goal since his return from a lengthy injury.

Gruff Harrison’s men reduced the deficit not long after when a well-struck shot from Liam Samuel found the top corner.

After halftime, Ammanford needed a bright start, however, it was Llantwit who almost got them off to a great start with Walters finding the net only to be ruled offside.

The Whites started to create chances and almost drew it level when a Matthew Jones, found Matthew Fisher, who’s shot was sliced wide. Lee Trundle too had a few chances but each of his two shots were comfortably dealt with by the keeper.

The next goal was crucial for the game, and it was the boys from the Windmill Ground who doubled their lead where a thunderous strike from Cullen Kinsella found the back of the net securing them all three points.

They could have made it four with not much time left to go Dafydd Owen’s brilliant run through the defence, his shot was saved and then the rebound was fired high over the bar.

Another defeat for one of the league’s favourites, whose next game is up against Swansea University in the league. Llantwit Major meanwhile will look to carry on their unbeaten run in the league but before that, they go on to face the only team that has beaten them this season, Risca United who they play in the Welsh Cup.
