Barry Town bring in Welsh winger Brandon Griffiths

Barry Town United have signed winger Brandon Griffiths ahead of the new season.

The 23-year-old has spent the summer training with the Linnets and has now earned a deal for the 2021/22 campaign.

He becomes the fourth signing of the summer after the additions of Aron Davies, Kelland Absalom, and Marcus Day.

A number of attacking players such as Curtis Jemmett-Hutson, David Cotterill, Jamie Bird, and Michael George have left, freeing up space in the squad for new reinforcements.

Born in Cardiff, Griffiths was an academy product of Swansea City.

He was at the Swans at a time when they were a Category One academy, meaning he played against some of the top academies from England at the Under-18 level.

After leaving Swansea in 2018, the left-sided attacker opted to try his luck abroad and signed for German fifth-tier side Ennepetal. He later moved on to DJK TuS Horde before finally ending up in Belgium with KSK Ronse.

“I’m delighted, over the moon to get it done and I can’t wait to start,” said the Welshman on his move to Jenner Park Stadium.

“When I first spoke to Gav, we had a good chat, he told me what the club was about, their ambitions, and where they want to go. I thought it was music to my ears. I just wanted to get involved and I wanted to come here.

“I’d say I’m a fast attack-minded player. My first thought is to go direct and try to get some goals and assists. I want to do as much as I can for the team.”

Manager Gavin Chesterfield said: Brandon has been with us during pre-season and has shown in each performance that he brings something different to the squad.

“He’s displayed a good attitude and work ethic throughout and also shown a desire to be a part of the club.

“I’m looking forward to working with him.”

Barry begin their campaign on Saturday in an away trip at Park Avenue to face Aberystwyth Town.
