Llanelli Town 0-4 Pontypridd Town: Dragons demolish languishing Llanelli at Stebo

Pontypridd Town inflicted a heavy home defeat onto Llanelli Town at Stebonheath Park in the JD Cymru South.

Their dynamic attacking trio of Sam Johnson, Gavin Beddard and Luke Gullick gave them an unassailable first-half lead.

Lewis Reed missed a penalty to make matters worse and Jarrad Welch inflicted further damage on the helpless Reds.

From the start, Jones’s men we at it and should have scored within seconds with Luke Gullick powering past the opposition defence and found himself in a one-on-one with Exauce Dimonekene who stood tall and parried the save wide of goal for a corner.

Sam Johnson waited for the ball to fall to him and with a great touch on his right side, he fired home the first goal of the game.

Ponty would not have to wait long for a second, a beautiful ball from Paul Morgan found Beddard who cushioned a header into the corner of the net.

The home side couldn’t deal with the strength and pace of Pontypridd slick pasing and sshould have scored again with Gullick forcing Dimonekene in to action.

Five minutes from half-time, Pontypridd had their third goal. Beddard held the ball up well and fed in Gullick who curled home his first goal of the evening.

Emerging from the changing rooms, Llanelli were playing for pride and were awarded a penalty. Forward Lewis Reed stepped up but Morgan Davies denied him from the spot by parrying it back to his feet but he sliced his attempt.

Sub Jarrad Welch was found and he scored from inside the box in the second-half to make for a sizeable margin ofvictory.

Llanelli Town manager Andy Legg said: “I as the manager would like to publicly apologise for tonight’s performance and feel that as a team we let you fans down.

“I will assure the club and fans that I will not rest and I will work hard to get it right on the pitch”.

Pontypridd Town manager Jonathan Jones said: “It was a complete performance tonight from the boys.

“We were looking for the win, we got it through some excellent football at times. We had four different scores and now we are unbeaten in six.

Pontypridd Town captain and goalscorer Gavin Beddard said: “We played well, Played to our strengths which helps.

“It was nice to score today and get an assist. We are playing well in the League and Cup and now we are up to second. Full credit to the team, we played excellent today.”
