Jody Thomas has stood down from his role as manager of Cwmamman United due to personal reasons.

Thomas, who joined the club in 2020, initially joined as the first-team coach before succeededing manager Ryan Stephens.

First-team coaches Llion Jones and Dave Legrice will take charge of the club for an interim period.

His last act was overseeing a 3-1 defeat to Monmouth Town in the Welsh Cup.

It was the second exit from a Cup competition in the space of a week after being knocked out by Pembrokeshire League side Hakin United in the FAW Amateur Trophy.

He was in charge of two of their Ardal Leagues fixtures, defeating AFC Llwydcoed but losing to Dinas Powys, both at their Grenig Park home.

“I enjoyed my time at Cwmamman United over the last 12-14 months but unfortunately due to a change in family commitments, it has to come to an end.

“I would like to wish everyone at the club all the very best and thank them for the opportunities.”

In a statement released by the club, it read: “The club wish to announce that Jody Thomas has decided to step down as Cwmamman United first-team manager due to personal reasons.

“We would like to thank Jody for his contributions to our club throughout his period with us. Initially as first-team coach and more recently as first-team manager.

“We wish him the very best for the future.

“Llion Jones and Dave Legrice our first-team coaches will take interim responsibility for the first team.

“There will be further announcements on the next appointment in due course.”

Dave Legrice thanked the departing boss, by saying: “I can not thank Jody Thomas enough for bringing me to the club, all the best for the future mate.”

Their next match is over a fortnight away against Treharris Athletic Western, allowing time for a new appointment.
