Newtown add youthful trio to squad as Chris Hughes adds more reinforcements

Newtown have continued to make moves in the transfer market by signing up three new players. 

Jake Walker, Brett Taylor, and Max Williams have all put pen-to-paper on deals that will see them play their football at Latham Park this season.

Jake Walker came through the Aston Villa youth setup and made his debut against Liverpool in the FA Cup. Walker has had two loan spells at Banbury United and Alvechurch.

“I am looking forward to the challenge ahead,” he said to Newtown’s official club website.

“Hopefully it can be a successful season for the team and myself.”

Former Wolves youngster Brett Taylor has also joined the club, Taylor had a scholarship with Shrewsbury Town in 2017.

He gained experience in senior football with Conference North side Kidderminster Harriers, Bridgnorth Town, and Lye Town.

Brett Taylor is looking forward to playing in the Cymru Premier with Mid Wales club Newtown: “I am looking forward to the challenge that the Cymru Premier will present,

“There’s an excellent group of players here and I want to play my part in a successful season.”

“I can’t wait for the action to get underway and show what I am capable of.”

Max Williams is the third and final new signing made by Newtown.

Williams, who is from Welshpool, has linked up with the club and will challenge Dave Jones for the number one shirt.

The 18-year-old was on the lookout for a new club after his release from Salford City.

Williams, featured for Wales Under-18s back in March against England, playing 84 minutes in the 2-0 defeat.

In terms of departures, goalkeeper Kham Steventon has departed Latham Park. He has opted to join Cymru South club Taffs Well.

Steventon made his debut for the Wellmen in their 3-1 victory over Abergavenny Town in Round One of the Welsh Cup.
