Goytre United got back to winning ways in style as they beat Carmarthen Town 4-1 at Richmond Park.

It was a game to remember for Tim Parker who marked his debut with two goals in between a brace from captain Josef Hopkins.

Liam Thomas pulled a goal back 12 minutes from time to end Carmarthen’s goal drought.

Carmarthen’s wait for a first league win since being relegated to the Cymru South continues as they remain at the bottom of the league.

It was an even opening 10 minutes with neither side creating any real chances to open the scoring.

The first opportunity fell to the hosts as debutant Jac Walters had an effort from the edge of the box denied by Scott Coughlin.

Carmarthen Town were forced into making the first chance of the game when Elliot Thomas went down with a leg injury.

He was replaced by Noah Daley, casuing The Old Gold to reshuffle their team.

It was the visitors that opened the scoring on the half-hour mark, through Josef Hopkins.

The ball fell kindly to the Goytre captain who fired the ball from the edge of the area past James in the Carmarthen goal.

Four minutes Parker pounced on an error from Lee Surman to score on his debut and double his new side’s advantage.

As the half-progressed Parker’s physical presence became more of a problem for the Carmarthen defenders.

He continued to cause problems into the second half, beating Lewis Rocke in a footrace before trying to chip Scott James from distance.

On 57 minutes he got his second of the evening when Goytre pounced on a miss-timed punch from James to finish unopposed.

The visitors continued to dominate with club top scorer Callum Bateman causing problems running at the defence. He won his side a penalty after being tripped by the substitute Cory Saunders.

Hopkins stepped forward to smash the ball home from 12 yards for his second of the evening.

Carmarthen did pull a goal back through Liam Thomas who fired past the keeper to end the Old Gold’s three game goal drought.
