Llanelli Town have signed up Callum Saunders after both Jordan Davies and Daniel Alfei departed the club.

The summer transfer window shuts next week and there has been a raft of transfer activity around the league with one addition and two outgoings for Llanelli.

Forward Callum Saunders, joins after a period of free agency having last played for Carmarthen Town in the 2019/20 season.

Before joining Carmarthen, Saunders played for Goytre United and scored five goals in 21 appearances, before a move to Richmond Park.

“I am delighted to get started with a great club and a great bunch of boys looking forward to the rest of the season,” said the forward after making the move across South West Wales.

First-team manager Andy Legg added: “Callum is a great signing for the club and I am still searching for quality players to bring in before the transfer window ends at the end of the month.”

As well as an incoming, there has been two key departures for Llanelli to deal with. Trefelin BGC have swooped for club captain Jordan Davies.

The 31-year-old played for Llanelli in the JD Cymru Premier in the 2018/19 season and made six league appearances for the Reds in the current campaign.

Davies’ departure came after a 4-0 defeat to Pontypridd in which Andy Legg and the club held a question and answer session with supporters following the heavy defeat.

The midfielder made his debut for Trefelin in their 4-0 win over Risca United and also played in their 2-2 draw with Cambrian & Clydach Vale on Tuesday.

Llanelli then announced on Wednesday evening, the departure of Daniel Alfei.

In a short social media post, they said: “The club would like to wish Daniel Alfei all the best as he moves to Briton Ferry this evening.”

The Swansea City youth defender is linking up with Andy Hill, who has recently become the manager of the Neath Port Talbot side, succeeding Carl Shaw.

He reunites with him for a second spell having previously managed him during Llanelli’s time in the Welsh top flight in 2018/19.

Alfei then helped Haverfordwest County to promotion before returning to Stebonheath Park.

He brings to Old Road, experience in the Football League with clubs like Portsmouth, Northampton, Mansfield and Yeovil.
