Chris Llewllyn has stepped down from his role as Swansea City Ladies head coach having only taken the role in August.
Chris Church, who has served as the clubs assistant under various people over the past eight seasons has replaced the former Welsh international in the top job.
It was Church who led Swansea to an opening day 2-1 victory over Adran Premier title rivals Cardiff Met on Sunday.
Speaking to The National after that win Church said: “I’ve been at the club for eight seasons as assistant manager to various managers, and now it’s time for me to step up.
“I’m thankful for that, but I’m ready for it, and that’s the main thing. I’m ready for a challenge like this.
“I’ve been coaching for a long time and I’m grateful to the club for giving me this opportunity.”
Church also revealed that he was only notified that Llewellyn had stepped down minutes before kick off at Cyncoed Campus
“Chris stepped down for various reasons,” he added. “I’m not too sure why that is.
“I was only told about it pretty much before the game.
“I had to get my head around that but mainly focus on the players and the game in hand, so I haven’t really had time to have a chat with the team off the field.
“For me, nothing changes.”
Church will be tasked with guiding Swansea City to the title in the first Adran Premier season.
His predecessor Llewllyn was hired to replaced Colin Staples who stepped down following the conclusion of the 2020/21 season which saw Swansea crowned as Women’s Premier Welsh League champions.
