The JD Welsh Cup third-round draw took place today, with a handful of lower league teams remaining in the competition.

The biggest ‘David vs. Goliath’ clash of the round takes place in the Cynon Valley, as Penrhiwceiber Rangers will host Flint Town United. Penrhiwceiber are currently 10th in the Ardal SW, whilst Flint are second in the Cymru Premier.

Three of the four remaining third tier sides will have home games. As well as the aforementioned Penrhiwceiber, Dinas Powys will welcome Guilsfield, and Saltney Town will host Penrhyncoch. After defeating Llanelli in the second round, Monmouth will face an away trip to Buckley Town – currently third in the Cymru North.

At least two Cymru Premier teams will be eliminated at this round, as there are two all-Premier clashes. Cefn Druids travel to Park Avenue to take on Aberytwyth, and Cardiff Met will host Barry Town.

After a record-equalling victory over Brymbo in the second round, Bala will now host Cymru South leaders Pontypridd.

Reigning Welsh Cup champions TNS will travel to Conwy Borough. Last year’s Cymru Premier champions Connah’s Quay will have a 160-mile trip to face Trefelin.
