Cardiff Met 3-0 Barry Town United: Roscrow double dumps Barry out of the Cup

A free-flowing Cardiff Met side eliminate Barry Town United of the Welsh Cup with an emphatic 3-0 win over their rivals at Cyncoed Campus.

Emlyn Lewis got the first of the bunch late in the first half as he calmly slotted a strike into the bottom right corner following a deflected shot in the build up.

Early in the second , Adam Roscrow fired a powerful strike from close range past Mike Lewis to grab a second for the hosts .

To complete the game , Cardiff Met won a penalty following a foul on Dan Warre as Adam Roscrow stepped up and hit the roof of the net.

The first effort of the game was from Marcus Day as he picked up the ball and hit a strike that went well wide.

An unneeded yellow card for Thomas Price was dished out as he blocked a free-kick from taking place along with dragging a Barry player down.

Price soon followed with a corner kick hit into Emlyn Lewis who fired his effort at the keeper as Mike Lewis was there to save it.

Lewis Rees caused danger throughout the first half as he was in a one-on-one position with Mike Lewis who saved the winger’s shot brilliantly.

Kyle Mccarthy kept it clean at the back but also in attack as he fired a cross into the back post as Matthew Chubb was free but did not find a connection.

Met chances were coming thick and fast but Emlyn Lewis who has been on fire for the Archers in cup competitions got the lead for the hosts.

After a deflected effort from outside the box, Emlyn Lewis was left free as he fired his effort into the bottom right corner past Lewis.

This is Lewis’s third goal this week as he grabbed a double in the Nathaniel MG Cup fifth-round game against Aberystwyth Town along with one in this game.

Gavin Chesterfield’s side nearly grabbed a goal late in the first half when Jordan Cotterill had his effort saved well by Alex Lang.

The Archers dominated the second half as Lewis Rees struck an effort inside the box that went inches past the post.

There were no excellent opportunities for Adam Roscrow in the first half but as soon as he was one on one with the keeper there was only one outcome.

A powerful strike that was blasted past the keepers left gave the home side a two-nil lead against Gavin Chesterfield’s men.

Harry Owen along with Lewis Rees was dangerous on both wings as they both nearly linked up as Owen hit a ball across the box as Rees failed to hit the ball into an empty net.

A new front three of Eliot Evans, Adam Roscrow, and recently substituted Dan Warre all linked up from a counter as Roscrow fired his effort straight at the keeper after a promising break.

Adam Roscrow was too much to handle as Curtis Mcdonald was booked for bringing down the forward.

Roscrow was too much to handle again as he passed the ball into the path of Dan Warre who was fouled in the last stages.

After chants from the Barry Fans, Adam Roscrow winded the fans up as he slotted the penalty into the roof of the net as he celebrated towards the Barry Town United fans.

Christian Edward’s side can enjoy back-to-back cup successes following the 5-2 win over Aberystwyth Town in the Nathaniel MG Cup in midweek and a 3-0 win this afternoon.
