Ffion Morgan is competing with herself in Wales training

Speaking before Wales’ 200th game Ffion Morgan says that she is always competing with herself to impress Gemma Grainger and win her own shirt when with the Welsh national team.

When asked who’s shirt in the Wales starting line up she is challenging for in training she replied: “My own.

“I compete against myself when I’m here. I’m in a great environment with great players that I can never compete against just one player.

“The whole team at the moment is so competitive and the depth in the steam at the moment is great but it can be scary as a player because you think ‘Oh my gosh, there’s a lot of people to compete against.'”

“But it’s a great environment to be in, especially as young player.”

The 21-year-old signed her first professional contract at Bristol City this summer after leaving fellow Championship side Crystal Palace.

Morgan credits her move to the West Country side for better helping prepare her for life on camp with Wales.

“It’s my first first time contract and it’s been huge for me to adjust to that.

“Before camps were difficult for me physically, but now it’s just second nature like at my club so it’s been really great.

“I love living in Bristol because I’m closer to home and my family.

At Bristol City, the Llandilo native is coached by Lauren Smith who she previously worked with in her younger days playing international football for Wales.

“I’ve got great coach who wants to develop me.

The most important thing for me this season is just develop myself and push for a starting shirt with my performances week in week out.
