Wales’ most capped player Jess Fishlock has revelled her excitement ahead of Wales’ World Cup camp. Gemma Grainger’s side will face Slovenia and Estonia as they look to build on their opening two wins.

Wales opened their campaign with with over Kazakhstan and Estonia. Jemma Grainger looks to build a new style of play for Wales using a more possession based approach.

“I’m actually like super excited. I was excited to meet again, but I think we kind of got Kazakhstan in Estonia. Kind of a little bit of nerves or maybe a little bit of emotion out of the way with two wins.

“So now I think we can kind of focus and focus even more on what our, kind of aim is, which is obviously to win these games and to qualify the World Cup.

“So think Friday’s game specifically is going to be a really big one and a big challenge. But I am super excited for that.”

Wales will travel to Slovenia on Friday night and face a tough challenge to a team that narrowly lost to France.

The Wales squad is under going a change in style and the players are excited about the new challenge.

“Yeah, I think so. I think we, you know, we’ve had a really good couple couple months with Jem. And obviously, we knew their campaigns starting and we were just so excited to kind of get going, under Jem, and then a kind of new philosophy and, and kind of enjoy playing together a little bit.

“And so yeah, both games, gave was just different challenges, you know, and we have to remember that we’re still kind of going through a process right now.”

The OL Reign star, known for her passion for the Wales shirt and showing her emotions when playing for Wales. She spoke about how that can help and also how the team have to be able to control those emotions.

“So it’s good to have our emotions that we have naturally. But I think sometimes you just channel on a little bit better.

“And so I think will be that will be good for us in these few games. If we able to kind of channel that just a little bit better.”

Emotion can sometimes get the better of players during the heat of a game. However Fishlock states that she could play without it.

“I couldn’t possibly play with that emotion.

“It’s about how you channel that you know. You have to make sure your channel so you’re not too nervous, being not too excited.

“It’s all about how you channel your emotion and how you structure that into the used in the right way. And you know, we have so much emotion because we’re naturally passionate because were Welsh.

“So it’s just good for us that we are able to show that emotion but also be aware of how we channel that.”

With the Women’s game improving across the world Fishlock states that there are no longer any easy games.

“I think the thing that we also have to remember is that, number one, the women’s game is changing rapidly there there is no weaker teams anymore. I’d say we found that out in the last campaign.

“We have to be able to do something that we’ve never done before. And I still think that that is going to be extremely difficult for us. Do I believe that we can? Yes, but do I kind of want to sit here and kind of saying all the Hail Marys in the world, I want to kind of still have a little bit of reality and honesty with where we’re at right now. And what we what we want to do.”

Fishlock has been in form form for her club as they have won six games from nine. Wales face Slovenia on Friday before a home game on Tuesday at Cardiff City Stadium.
