Wales WU19 have gained promotion to League A in the Second Round of qualifying for the 2022 UEFA Women’s Under-19 Championship following their 4-1 win over Albania.

Phoebie Poole scored a hat-trick after fellow Adran Premier star Jessie Taylor had given Wales the lead to help Nicola Anderson’s side finish top of Group 3 with a perfect record of three wins from three games.

Wales opened the group with a 3-0 win over hosts Andorra thanks to a brace from Bristol City’s Ella Hillard and a penalty goal from Aston Villa’s Mary McAteer.

They followed that performance up with a 4-0 victory against Moldova with Hillard and McAteer both getting on the scoresheet again and Cardiff City‘s Poole scoring twice.

Poole and Cardiff Met’s Taylor were joined in the squad by Bluebirds star Seren Watkins to create a trio of players representing the Adran Premier.

Maria Francis-Jones captained the side in Andorra as she leaned on her experience as one of two players who have been involved in the senior set up, alongside Bethan McGowen.

It was Poole who sone the brightest for Cymru as she continued her scoring streak at club level by netting five goals in three games.

Wales WU19 will now await the draw for the Second Round of qualifying as they look to book a place in the Czech Republic for next year’s competition.
