Barry Town United Ladies 0-5 Swansea City Ladies: Five-star Swans maintain 100% record

Swansea City maintain their 100% record in the Adran Premier after beating Barry 5-0 at Jenner Park. On a sunny afternoon in South Wales, Swansea showed their quality to beat a hard working Barry side.

Laura Davies opening the scoring after 28 minutes for Swansea before Stacy John-Davis added a second before the break. Kelly Adams made it three on 63 minutes as the Swans looked to press home their advantage. Jessica Wiliams made it four on 86 minutes and Stacey John-Davis added a fifth in added time from the spot.

Swansea stay top of the Adran Premier with eight wins from eight. Barry remain in sixth place having played ten.


Swansea went on the attack from the start of this game. The Swans controlled the ball and Barry were sitting deep looking to contain and break on the counter.

The visitors had the games first chance as Nia Rees put a cross into the box which was headed at goal. The header was straight at Barry keeper Chelsea Herbert who made an easy save.

Swansea worked the ball down the right in the first half with Ellie Lake and Stacy John-Davis linking up. Lake found John-Davison that side and John-Davis whipped in a ball across the goal with Herbert had to dive at to stop.

Swansea’s pressure told after 28 minutes as they found a way though Barry’s defence. From a Ellie Lake free kick into the box the ball fell to Laura Davies who hit shot into the far corner.

John-Davis latched onto a ball over the top to find herself though on goal. Rolling a shot past Herbert it looked like the opening goal but the ball came back off the post and into the Barry’ keepers arms.

The visitors were relentless with wave after wave of attacks. John-Davis was fouled on the edge of the area giving Swansea a free kick. John-Davis fired a stunning free kick into the far corner after 43 minutes.

Half Time: Barry Town 0-2 Swansea City

The second half continued like the first with Swansea pushing forward for more goals. Early after kick off Katy Hosford saw her shot hit the side netting.

Rhianne Oakley put in a good cross finding Laura Davies who saw her shot saved by Herbert. Barry struggled to clear and Swansea worked the ball to John-Davies who fired over.

Herbert was in fine form and made a fine save with her leg from Hosford’s close range effort.

Swansea kept pilling pressure on the Barry goal with Lake hitting the side netting and John-Davis having two efforts blocked in quick succession.

Barry couldn’t keep the champions out and Kelly Adams headed in from close range from Hosford’s cross after 65 minutes.

With a three goal lead Swansea dropped their pace a little and Barry were able to see more of the ball. The home side were unable to create any real chances however.

Jessica Wiliams added a fourth on 86 minutes, tapping in at the far post after John-Davis’ cross found her free in the box.

A handball in the box in the last minute gave Swansea a late penalty. John-Davis confidently sent Herbert the wrong way to make it five.
