Swansea University 1-2 Briton Ferry Llansawel: Blistering first-half results in Reds win

Briton Ferry closed the gap at the top of the Adran South as they claimed a narrow win over Swansea University.

Goals from Chelsea Deacon and Georgia Howells give the visitors the win. Jasmin Byrd pulled a goal back the hosts who were good in spells.

It was a very quiet start with neither side being able to break each other down but both sides we’re working hard without creating anything significant.

The first chance came just after the tenth-minute mark, there was nice play from the away side and a ball fell to Deacon on the edge of the box but her shot was easily saved.

The gams first goal came in fine fashion as it was a goal that was carved from individual brilliance. The ball was picked by Deacon in the middle of the pitch, she skipped past two players, dummied the centre half and went through on goal and calmly slotted the ball away and give the away side the lead.

The ball then dropped to Welch in the middle of the pitch for Ferry who tried a long-range effort but it was gathered by the keeper.

A long ball was pumped forward by the visiting side falling kindly to Georgia Howells who headed to give the visitors a 2-0 lead as they took a stronghold on the match.

The hosts then immediately hit back, right-back Yasmin Bryd was put through on goal and she scored with some aplomb.

University then started the second half as a much better side, a free kick for the students just outside the box, was taken by Charley Haynes but the resulting free-kick was hit over the bar.

The home side were ever so slightly growing into this game and improving in the final third.

There was some nice play from the students and Lucy Morris was one on one with the keeper but the keeper went to ground to gather the ball off her feet.

The second half then faded out with neither creating big chances and instead Ferry closed the game out.
