Pontardawe Town 3-0 West End: Steve Berry double secures the win for the home side!

Pontardawe Town were back amongst the points as they comfortably beat Swansea rivals West End at Parc Ynysderw in the Ardal South West.

A brace from Steve Berry as well as a goal from Ioan Evans was the perfect response to last week’s late defeat to title rivals Pontardawe Town.

They are now two points off the Dracs and hold two games in hand over the Cardiff side as they continue to push for promotion.

The away side started the better side at Parc Ynysderw, a free-kick was pumped into the box, and it bobbled around, it fell to Kostromin, but his shot was straight at the keeper.

Apart from that early chance for West End, it was a quiet 20 minutes but then the visitors started to build themselves into the game. Scott Jewell was fouled just outside the box, but the referee played advantage and it fell to Nathan Wickham on the wing, he went past the Pontardawe player, but his shot flashed wide.

Just shortly after, the hosts then got into the game and created their first chance, it was a

good passing play in the midfield area, it then fell to Gabriel Kircough just outside the box, but his shot went wide.

A foul on the Pontardawe player firstly got given as a free-kick, but the linesman asked for the referee to come over for a chat. After a brief discussion, the referee gave a penalty. From the resulting penalty captain, Berry buried it and give the home side the lead.

The home side then started the second half the better, an early chance for Steve Berry went wide then shortly after Ioan Evans was found with plenty of room in the penalty area and buried his chance and doubled Pontardawe’s lead.

Pontardawe had complete control of the game by having most of the possession, Evans wanted to double his goal tally, he cut in, but his final product wasn’t quite there.

The domination then continued, Jordan Langley was playing as a target man and he bought the ball down well and put a pass Ioan Evans, the winger then looked up and found Steve Berry who doubled his tally, and Pontardawe were now dominating.

West End played some football and created a good chance. Kallum Owen put a ball into the box, it found Scott Jewell who got a touch on the ball but a fantastic save came from Damian Davies.

Pontardawe then saw the game out in a confident manner. They did create a late chance for substitute Arwel Rees, he was found just the area, had time to look up but his shot went over the bar.
