Pontypridd Town have bolstered their squad with no less than five new arrivals, who have over 250 Cymru Premier appearances between them.

The biggest names of these new arrivals are striker Ian Traylor and goalkeeper Steven Cann, who have both joined from Merthyr Town. 32 year-old Traylor has spent the majority of his career with the Martyrs, although he is no stranger to the Welsh leagues having made six appearances for Penybont last season.

South African-born Cann has spent time with a variety of clubs in Wales, having made over 200 appearances in the Cymru Premier for teams including Aberystwyth, Carmarthen, and Port Talbot. Cann originally joined Merthyr in the summer, before opting to leave in November.

Another eye-catching signing for the Dragons is midfielder Troy Greening, who joins from Barry Town. Greening missed two years of action with a cruciate ligament injury, and he joined Trethomas Bluebirds on loan at the start of the season to regain his fitness. Greening will have some familiar faces in the Ponty squad, having played with Drew Fahiya and Paul Morgan at Barry.

Rounding off Ponty’s new arrivals are Christian Davies and Lewis Iles, who join from Merthyr Saints and Cwmbran Celtic respectively. Davies has impressed in the South Wales Alliance Premier Division this season, with seven goals in 17 games from midfield.

Iles scored 10 goals in 16 games for Cwmbran Celtic this season – which is a third of all of Celtic’s league goals. With Luke Gullick expected to miss the remainder of the season with a cruciate ligament injury, Iles will ensure that there’s no shortage of goals in his absence.

Pontypridd have also seen some members of their squad depart for pastures new. Defender Shane Parry has joined fellow Cymru South side Ammanford, whilst young goalkeeper Harry Irving has joined Trethomas Bluebirds.

Four of Ponty’s new arrivals played a part in their goalless draw away to Briton Ferry last week, with Davies the only one missing. With 11 games to go, Ponty are joint top of the Cymru South, with only goal difference separating them and Llantwit Major on 43 points.
