Airbus UK Broughton 3-1 Conwy Borough: Hot-shot striker Davies inspires Wingmakers to win

Airbus UK were back amongst the points as they beat Conwy Borough 3-1 at the Airfield in the JD Cymru North.

Adam Davies scored twice and created Oliver Lanceley’s goal as the Wingmakers ran home a 3-0 advantage in the first half.

Tom Weir found the net for his new club Conwy after coming on as a substitute but the Tangerines could not mount a fightback.

Airbus retain their four-point gap over Llandudno as well as holding a game in hand over their nearest placed title rivals.

The game started off with the hosts applying tremendous pressure on their visitors and they were rewarded for their efforts on 10 minutes as winger Ieuan Hewitt found striker Adam Davies who controlled the ball, turned well, and hit a low driven left-footed shot past Rory Crowther in the Conwy Borough net to give the home side the lead.

The Wingmakers continued to be on the front foot once they scored and had a few more half-chances to double to their advantage the most notable being Ryan Edwards effort after he was found by TNS loanee Beau Cornish but he could only hit it straight at Conwy Borough keeper.

Airbus continued to frustrate their counterparts as both their defense stood tall not allowing any attacks and their attackers kept applying pressure on their goal.

On 23 minutes Airbus doubled their lead as Joseph Palmer found Ieuan Hewitt on the right-wing. The winger then delivered a great ball to Adam Davies who proceeded to slot home from close range to make it 24 goals for the striker this season. Which also made it a new JD Cymru North record.

Jake Eyre, a summer signing from Gresford nearly made it 3-0  to the hosts when he headed from close range after a Joseph Palmer found him but he couldn’t beat Rory Crowther in the Conwy Borough net. Eyre nearly had a goal again two minutes later as he hit a shot on the volley but he could only hit the crossbar.

As the half continued the away side still really struggled to make any attacks as both the Airbus midfield and defense shut out the away side.

Airbus made it 3-0 with 40 minutes on the clock earlier goal scorer Adam Davies turned provider as he made a good run down the left-wing and found striker partner Ollie Lanceley in the box and the striker slotted home into the left corner.

The second half began quite evenly compared to the first half but it was the hosts to have the first chance of the game came in the 54th minute when Adam Davies nearly had a hat trick as he and Ollie Lanceley linked well to find the JD Cymru North top scorer free in the box and proceeded to hit a finessed effort but could only hit the right post.

The visitors responded to this chance immediately and on 55 minutes they nearly had their first goal of the evening as Sean Mccafferey hit a long ball into the box from a free kick to find Corrig Mcgonigle who headed just wide

Conwy started to grow into the game as the half went on and were rewarded for their 2nd half determination in the 69th minute Ben Lockley found Tom Weir recent singing from Flint Town United in the box from the right win and he slotted home past Lewis Dutton to give the Tangerines their first goal of the evening

Nothing of note really happened for the next 10 minutes of play as both sides cancelled each others attacks out and the next real chance happened with 82 minutes on the clock when Craig Whelan hit an ambitious effort from far for Conwy borough but he couldn’t guide it goalwards and it went out for a goal kick

Airbus really restricted their opponents to efforts outside the box in the last 10 as they closed the game off to seal the victory.
