Colwyn Bay 0-3 Holywell Town: Evans’ unbeaten Bay run ends at the hands of Holywell

Steve Evans tasted defeat for the first time as Colwyn Bay manager after Holywell knocked three past the Seagulls on Tuesday night.

Holywell found themselves ahead through Ilan Jones after the lively Allshorn picked him out from the left-hand side of the box.

The Wellmen made it two in the last few minutes when a corner dropped to Sullivan who lifted the ball into the roof of the net from close range.

Into the fifth minute of added time and Forbes capitalised on a goalkeeping error tapping into an open net to make it 3-0 to Holywell.

The first half was largely played at a very high pace. The visitors were at it straight away when Allshorn whipped in a ball from the left-hand side to the far post. The resulting header at goal was dealt with.

Allshorn was involved yet again a few minutes later when he picked up the ball in his own half and drove forward. He passed a few Bay defenders with ease twisting and turning his way in to the Bay box, he hit a low driven shot, but Nield was up to the task and saved well.

A minute after it was the Bay’s turn to attack when Kirby received the ball with his back to goal in the box, he laid it back to McCready who struck a long-range curling shot that hit the bar and bounced down towards the goal line, not in said the ref and linesman.

The half continued its frantic pace as a Holywell free kick was whipped into the Seagulls box, it evaded everyone and nearly snuck in at the far post, Nield managed to save.

With 30 minutes played Holywell were ahead with Allshorn racing down the left flank, crossing to find Ilan Jones who hit home from a few yards out.

Not long after there was a half chance for the Bay as the ball landed at the feet of Kieran Evans from a scramble amongst many bodies in the box, he hit a shot that flew wide of the mark.

A few minutes before half time Nield was called into action yet again when the dangerous Allshorn hit a shot from the edge of the area. Nield got down well to save.

Kirby had a chance early in the second half when he drove at the defence, he was pushed wide which made it hard to get a clean strike at goal and his effort was blocked.

Kirby was involved yet again with 70 minutes gone when he rounded to goalkeeper who in no mans land, Kirby hit a shot that was dealt with by a defender scrambling back towards his goal.

In the final few minutes, the Wellmen made it 2-0 when a corner landed at the feet of Sullivan a few yards out he struck the ball high into the Bay net.

As the game looked to be coming to a close, Nield made a blunder in the goal dropping a high ball into the path of Forbes who tapped in to make it 3-0.
