Baglan Dragons 3-0 Ynyshir Albions – Dragons shock Buns to reach first FAW Trophy final

Baglan Dragons will play in their first FAW Trophy final after they shocked Ynyshir Albions 3-0 at Penybont’s SDM Glass Stadium.

They will play Mold Alexandra of the Ardal North West, who will also play in their first final, following their win over Rockspur Fords. 

Dylan Thomas got the opening goal from the spot after 13 minutes. Thomas could have made it two from the spot later but his second penalty was saved. Jordan Evans made it two after 77 minutes before Joshua Evans made it three.


Joseph Eason had the games first chance as he tried from distance, his effort going just over the bar. Long range efforts were worth a try with the wind behind Ynyshir.

After early Ynyshir pressure Baglan came back and Ynyshir needed Andre Griffiths to clear a headed chance on the line.

Soon after the wind came to play its part as a high ball into the box towards Jordan Evans got caught up. Ynyshir keeper Jason Pritchard going for the ball but going into the back of Evans, penalty. Dylan Thomas stepped up and fired low to the right, Pritchard got a hand to it but it had too much power.

Ynyshir went looking for an equaliser and Leon Anstee shot just wide. Shortly after Liam Eason saw his shot tipped around the post by Keenan Bailey.

Baglan could have gone into the break two up as they were awarded another penalty. Jordan Evans causing problems for the Ynyshir defence fouled as he ran into the area. Dylan Thomas once again took the spot kick and opted to go the same way. Pritchard had his number this time and got both hands on the ball to push it away.

Before the break Bailey was called in action again, tipping Liam Eason effort over the bar.

The second half was scrappy to began as both teams fought to gain a foothold as the wind picked up. Mark Crutch heading wide for Ynyshir and Dylan Thomas blazing a shot over for Baglan.

Kailum Williams tried a chip over Bailey from the right of the box but saw his effort go just over the bar. Jacob Matthews then tried but his effort also went over.

Baglan however got the important second goal of the game. Joshua Evans with a long throw into the box finding Jordan Evans. Evans with two men around with moved the ball to his left foot and fired low into the corner.

Baglan sealed the game with their third goal when Joshua Evans sent a high ball into the box. Catching the wind the ball took Pritchard by surprise and all he could do was fumble it into the net.
