Chirk AAA became the inaugural winners of the Ardal North East after their win against a youthful Berriew.
The Wrexham-based team won 4-0 in front of a 200-strong crowd at Holyhead Road thanks to goals from Ashton Williams, Dale Davies, Tomos Williams, and Jack Edwards.
It meant that neither Caersws nor Cefn Albion are to catch them with their remaining fixtures, with the Bluebirds due to host them on April 30.
Out of the 29 games that Andy Pryde’s side played, they won 25 of them, losing just three times, whilst they have scored an impressive 103 goals, whilst conceding just 20.
A nine-game unbeaten run in which they scored 33 goals and kept eight clean sheets was a contributing factor to their success.
Chirk have not been in the second tier of Welsh football since 1998 and have mainly been at the third level, spending 23 seasons in the same division.
Their success is even more impressive given their performance in the now-defunct Wrexham League saw them finish 14th out of 16 teams, highlighting a dramatic improvement in their performance.
Chirk’s trophy win can only be matched by their recent success in 2013 when they won the Premier Division title but opted not to go up.
They are one of six applicants for the Tier Two Licence and should they be successful then they would take their place in the Cymru North next season.
If not, then that would fall to the team that finishes second, which would either be Caersws who hold a three-point gap over Cefn Albion, though the latter has two games in hand.
A decision is due to be made on their applications in mid-May, though there is also an appeal process.
