Stalemate at Central Park as Cymru North v South clash in cup qualifier

There is nothing to seperate the two sides going into next weeks second leg at Briton Ferry with everything still to play for.

The South made a very fast start with an early free kick given away by Osian Davies on the halfway line leading to the ball going in by Goldsworthy who’s crossfield ball was met by Evans who headed  in powerfully. The referee then went over to his linesman who gave offisde. Let off for the North.

The all South start continued with Llanuchwllyn’s Dascalu making a good save from Jones’ low shot from the left hand side of the box.

The first chance for the North soon followed after ten minutes when Hill knocked it past the defender down the right-hand side and whipped in a great ball to Hyne who’s shot was well blocked and cleared.

Dascalu then continued his confident start gathering well under pressure after a short corner left the South with a 2v1.

There was a big blow for the North just after the half an hour mark when Osian Davies was forced off with a hamstring injury, on in his place came Llanrwst United’s Callum Parry.

The South looked dominant in the air at both ends of the pitch in the opening half, with Jones’ header flying wide at 33 minutes gone.

Dascalu was called into action yet again soon after making a good save to deny Josh Jones’ long-range volley.

As the half drew to a close there was a good chance for Liam Morris who was found in space inside the box, he let fly but his shot was blocked.

There was a great run by Jones down the right five minutes into the second half as he made his way into the box to fire a shot as Dascalu who saved well with his feet.

Jones was involved again not long after as he skipped inside and hit a shot that was blocked by Cathrall.

Davies was called into action in the South net as the 60-minute mark edged closer when Cumming hit a powerful free kick goal bound.

With 67 minutes on the clock the North had a great chance on the counterattack as Cathrall fed Hyne, he drove down the right and hit a shot that was tame and easily saved.

Cumming was one of the brightest sparks for the North, he hit a fierce shot over the bar in the latter stages of the contest.

There was half a chance as the game neared its conclusion as Morris played a brilliant ball into Parry who fired towards goal, his effort was well blocked and goes for a late corner. That one looked goal bound!
