Caerau Ely manager Nathan Cotterall stands down from post

Caerau Ely have parted company with their first-team manager Nathan Cotterrall as they seek a new direction.

The 45-year-old has left the club after one season with the Young Guns after succeeding the management team of Dan Williams and Craig Hooper.

He had led Caerau to an eighth-placed finish in the Ardal South West after a season of change following their relegation from the Cymru South in 2020.

Caerau saw a massive overhaul of their squad and became one of the youngest teams in the division but saw the likes of Daniel Bowen thrive with 16 goals in 18 games and Owain Edwards with 15 in 25 matches.

A statement released by the club on its social media feeds read: “It is with regret that we can confirm that our first team manager Nathan Cotterall has left the club with immediate effect.

“Although a good run of results at the back end of the season meant we finished in a very respectable eighth finish in the Ardal SW, we felt as though the club needs to go in a different direction.

“The club would like to thank him for all his hard work and commitment to the team and wish him every success in his future ventures in football.”

As well as an eighth-place finish, they were in the quarter-finals of the Ardal South Cup but lost to Cardiff Draconians.
